We are pleased to announce that 'Sustainable Heat Treatment and Metal Production' will form part of the 2026 Heat Treatment Congress organised by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Wärmebehandlung + Werkstofftechnik e. V. (AWT). The event will take place from 13th to 15th October 2026 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.

A wide range of relevant aspects of sustainability in heat treatment and metal production are covered as part of the Heat Treatment Congress. We encourage experts from both industry and academia who are engaged in the fields of heat treatment and metal production to submit their papers on the following subjects:

• Sustainable Process Heat: Innovations in energy-efficient heating/cooling technologies, waste heat utilization, electrification methods for industrial furnaces, and sustainable green fuels.
• Efficient Heat Treatment Processes: Alternative heating processes like induction or laser techniques; advancements in nitriding/nitrocarburizing; case hardening processes; efficient isothermal treatments.
• Circular Economy Practices: Resource-efficient green materials through scrap recycling; sustainable process gas generation; hydrogen carrier utilization; green quenching media.
• Efficiency in Process Chains: Digital tools for sustainability assessment; energy efficiency across manufacturing chains; Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) applications.
